Iraq's Ministry of Planning held an expanded meeting on last week with experts and consultants from KBR to discuss the implementation of the second phase of Iraq's Comprehensive Economic Plan (Vision 2050), a national vision extending to 2050 aimed at establishing a diversified and sustainable economy to drive the country's development.The meeting, chaired by Dr Maher Hammad Jowan, Deputy Minister for Technical Affairs, focused on developing a strategic roadmap based on accurate data and scientific analysis to guide national economic growth, create jobs, and expand investment in key sectors, thereby enhancing Iraq's regional and international standing.The ministry stated that reliance on reliable data is a core pillar for understanding the economic reality and designing smart, bold development policies, adding that its collaboration with KBR reflects the ministry's commitment to evidence-based planning to achieve the desired economic transformation.The meeting, attended by several directors general, experts, and specialists, also highlighted the importance of empowering women and increasing their participation in the workforce, recognising their potential to contribute to GDP growth, productivity, and economic resilience, in line with sustainable development goals and Iraq's long-term vision.
