Iran, Serbia Call for Expansion of Trade Ties

Iran's Minister of Industries, Mining, and Trade Abbas Aliabadi and Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Vladimir Orlic in a meeting have urged expanding trade ties between the two countries. Aliabadi met and held talks with Orlic in Tehran on Monday.

Referring to the significance of expanding technical and scientific ties between Iran and Serbia, Aliabadi said that the trade volume between the two countries is insignificant compared to the level of political ties. He emphasized that Iran and Serbia have good capacities to cooperate in the fields of petrochemicals, transportation, automobile manufacturing, oil, gas, and tourism.

Vladimir Orlic, for his part, said that as the presidents of the two countries agreed, we are also looking to develop relations between the two countries. He emphasized that the volume of trade and economic exchanges between Iran and Serbia is not satisfactory despite good growth in recent years, and they are looking for increasing the volume of trade exchanges three times during the current year. - IRNA
