Doha Ready to Increase Investments in Iran: Emir of Qatar

Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani said his country is to increase economic cooperation and investment in Iran. The Emir of Qatar made the remarks in a phone call with Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi. Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani also congratulated Raisi and Iranians on Eid al-Adha.

Referring to recent talks between the two countries on the expansion of relations, the Qatari emir announced Doha’s readiness to hold a joint economic commission for further cooperation in the near future.

President Raisi, for his part, said the development of bilateral relations between the two countries can further enhance their cooperation on regional and international issues.

During the Iranian president’s visit to Doha in February 2022, Iran and Qatar inked 14 major economic cooperation agreements, including a deal on cancelling visa requirements for passengers travelling between the two countries.

The deals will cover close cooperation between Iran and Qatar in various fields of the economy, including trade, shipping, aviation and electricity. Iranian and Qatari central banks have also agreed to work to boost their financial and banking ties. - Iran Daily
