Tehran-Doha Agreements for 2022 World Cup Didn’t Come to Fruition: Official

Iran and Qatar's agreements for holding the 2022 world cup didn’t reach the stage of implementation, the Chairman of the Transportation and Logistics Commission of the Iranian Chamber of Commerce said. Ali Hosseini told ILNA that Qatar has done a long-standing plan for holding the 2022 World Cup and it seems that Doha was successful in this regard. Commenting on the agreements between Iran and Qatar, the official said that Iran’s ambassador to Qatar has announced Iran’s deals with Qatar but in practice, these agreements did not come to fruition and have not been implemented.
Iran has traditional and long-standing relationships with the Persian Gulf countries, but it seems that these relations have diminished due to political problems, he said, adding that if both sides return to the relations we can get our share of the region’s markets. - ILNA
