The CEO of the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) announced that consumption-management scenarios have been drawn up for provinces facing gas supply stress, stressing that public cooperation is key to a stable gas supply. He listed campaigns such as "20 Degrees" and "Warm Room" among the measures planned to cut consumption during the cold season. In an interview with a Shana reporter, Saeed Tavakkoli outlined the company's plans for managing gas consumption in stressed provinces. He said: "Fortunately, after part of the lost gas was returned to the network, scenarios have been drawn up for all gas-stressed provinces to manage and optimize consumption through the distribution companies."He added that the scenarios also provide for consumption restrictions and the use of alternative fuels where necessary. "All the scenarios have been thoroughly reviewed and approved by the Passive Defense Organization, and drills have been held for them. Weak points are now being addressed," he said.Emphasizing the company's commitment to a stable gas supply during the cold season, the NIGC CEO said: "We hope to manage the gas available in the network as well as possible, and in this effort the cooperation and solidarity of the people play a very important role. Without public cooperation and participation, getting through the coming winter, given the existing conditions and constraints, will be very difficult."Referring to cultural and public-awareness programs to reduce gas consumption, Tavakkoli said: "In this area, we have the '20 Degrees' campaign on our agenda, along with other campaigns such as 'Warm Room.' Various measures are also under way by different companies and sectors, with the participation of government, non-government and private-sector entities."He expressed hope that, by drawing on each region's cultural capacities and with the public's cooperation, the ground would be laid for reducing gas consumption and managing it optimally during the cold season. - Shana
