Kuwait's crude oil production fell by about 200,000 barrels per day in September from the previous month to average 1.77 million bpd, a person with knowledge of the matter has claimed, as rising attacks in the GCC and tight tanker availability weighed on exports. The decline comes despite signs of a broader recovery in GCC oil shipments after disruptions caused by the Iran conflict. The person asked not to be named because they were not authorised to speak publicly on the matter.A spokesperson for state oil company Kuwait Petroleum Corporation did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment. While exports from some producers like Saudi Arabia have rebounded as GCC countries adapt to wartime conditions, the recovery has been uneven, with tight tanker availability, higher shipping risks and continued Iranian attacks in the GCC constraining flows from some countries.Kuwait produced about 2.5 million bpd in February, before the war broke out after the US and Israel launched attacks on Iran on February 28.The drop in September production coincided with lower exports from the OPEC member, with preliminary Kpler data showing crude and condensate exports averaging about 740,000 bpd in September, down from 1.2 million bpd in August. In recent months, GCC oil producers have exported crude through the Strait of Hormuz on tankers with their Automatic Identification System signals switched off to avoid detection and potential attacks.
