Libyan Refinery Starts Upgrade of Oil Blending Plant

Libya's Zawiya Oil Refining Company has begun work to upgrade its oil blending and filling plant, following the completion and approval of equipment designs and engineering work.

The project involves removing ageing production lines and equipment and replacing them with modern systems to improve efficiency, reduce maintenance costs and limit production stoppages.

The upgrade is expected to increase annual production capacity from about 40,000 tonnes to 100,000 tonnes. It will also introduce modern blending and filling technology and allow the plant to produce a wider range of engine oils, including semi-synthetic and fully synthetic products.
