AI Training Partnership Launched Between CMC & Zain Iraq

Iraq's Communications and Media Commission (CMC) and Zain Iraq have launched a six-month training partnership focused on artificial intelligence (AI) and its practical applications, aimed at embedding AI use within the CMC and developing staff capabilities.

According to the CMC, the programme is being delivered in collaboration with Irada Foundation and Kapita Research, with Zain Iraq contributing practical expertise in AI deployment, training content development, and specialist instructors.

The programme includes specialist courses and workshops for senior CMC staff, covering strategic planning and AI governance, practical tools and data analysis, and knowledge-sharing sessions on best practices in the media and communications sectors.

Baligh Abu Kalal, head of Iraq's Communications and Media Commission (CMC), said the partnership marks a practical step towards institutionalising AI use within the organisation. He stated that AI proficiency would be a factor in career advancement at the CMC, with staff demonstrating higher levels of expertise given priority for leadership positions.

Abu Kalal said the goal was not to replace human staff but to multiply their capabilities and productivity through modern tools, adding that the value of AI depended on skilled and ethically minded users.
