NOC Chairman Calls for Expansion of Gas Transmission & Distribution Projects Across Libya

National Oil Corporation’s (NOC) Chairman Masoud Suleiman stressed the importance of expanding gas transmission and distribution projects across Libya during the first technical and financial meeting with the General Gas Transmission and Distribution Company.

Suleiman highlighted the company’s role as one of the NOC’s technical arms and its importance in implementing gas transmission and distribution projects and developing related infrastructure.

He urged the company to expand its operations to cities and regions across Libya and make greater use of its expertise and capabilities in implementing strategic projects, particularly those aimed at supplying gas to cities and other areas. He said such projects would support development, improve services, and reduce implementation costs.

Suleiman stressed that safety must remain a top priority in all company operations and called for comprehensive risk assessments before work begins to safeguard personnel, assets, and facilities.

During the meeting, the company presented reports on the activities of its occupational health and safety, operations, planning and projects, commercial affairs, consumer accounts, human resources, and financial departments, as well as the main challenges affecting its operations.

The meeting also discussed obstacles facing the launch and implementation of city gas projects in Tripoli and Benghazi, along with several infrastructure projects, including the gas pipeline from the Al-Farigh field to the Sarir gas-fired power plant.

Participants stressed the need to improve the company’s performance and strengthen its role in implementing gas projects in line with the NOC’s plans to develop infrastructure and enhance the efficiency of gas transmission and distribution across Libya.
