Libya's Waha Oil Co. Repairs Leak on Zaggut–Sidra Oil Pipeline

Waha Oil Company announced that it had detected and repaired a leak on the Zaggut–Sidra pipeline, bringing it fully under control in less than 24 hours.

Pumping through the pipeline resumed at 4:00 a.m. on Saturday following a rapid field response aimed at protecting the company’s assets and ensuring the continuity of oil operations.

In a statement published on its official page, the company said the leak was discovered at 11:30 a.m. on Friday during routine inspection and monitoring work, allowing specialized technical teams to respond proactively and limit its impact.

The company added that the leak occurred in an area with difficult geographical conditions, as the site is a natural drainage point for a valley and lies below sea level, making access to the location and repair work more challenging.

According to the company, the Operations Department led the response efforts and coordinated between the relevant departments and entities.

The pipeline was isolated, the worksite was secured, and the necessary safety measures were taken while a technical plan to repair the leak was prepared and implemented.

The Engineering Department assessed the appropriate technical solutions and alternatives for addressing the situation, while repair work was carried out under the supervision of the Health, Safety and Environment Department to protect personnel, secure the worksite, and control potential risks.
