Cabinet Reviews Rebuilding Push in War-Battered South of Iran

Members of the Cabinet on Wednesday reviewed reconstruction efforts in southern provinces damaged during the country's third imposed war, hearing reports from executive agencies on the pace of repairs to local infrastructure.

According to president.ir, the Cabinet met Wednesday, July 22, chaired by President Masoud Pezeshkian. First Vice President Mohammadreza Aref opened the session by thanking residents of the southern provinces, along with local officials and agency heads who had traveled to the region to assist. He stressed the need for special attention to the provinces' infrastructure problems.

Mohammad-Jafar Ghaempanah, the president's executive deputy, briefed the Cabinet on his recent trip to the south. He said managers at the Pars Special Economic Energy Zone contained fires within 40 days of fighting — even as enemy missiles fell — while carefully removing and cataloging damaged parts and pipelines during debris cleanup to keep reconstruction costs as low as possible.

Energy Minister Abbas Aliabadi confirmed that damaged power substations were repaired in under 24 hours. He pointed to a 2,000-megawatt reduction in electricity consumption as evidence of the public's resilience and national solidarity. - Shana
