Libya & Turkey Boost Partnership on Competition Policy

Libya and Turkey have agreed to deepen cooperation on competition policy, focusing on enforcing anti-monopoly laws and strengthening market regulation.

The deal was reached in Ankara between Libya’s Competition and Anti-Monopoly Council head, Salama Al-Ghweil, and the president of Turkey’s competition authority.

Both sides will implement an executive programme to activate a prior agreement, including training for Libyan officials, exchanges of expertise, and closer cooperation on investigating anti-competitive practices and overseeing mergers and acquisitions.

A joint technical team will also compare legal frameworks in the two countries, with Libya aiming to benefit from Turkey’s experience.

Officials urged companies operating in Libya to comply with competition laws, including requirements for prior notification and regulatory approval for mergers.
