Russian Ambassador to Tehran, Alexei Dedov, stated that bilateral trade between Moscow and Tehran has grown significantly during the period of U.S.-Israeli aggression against Iran. Russia Today reported on Saturday evening that the ambassador explained in a press interview that “during the period from January to April 2026, despite disruptions in some supply chains, bilateral trade volume showed moderate growth of 2%.”According to him, despite the complex geopolitical situation in the region, economic and trade cooperation between Russia and Iran continues to develop actively. Dedov noted the increased efficiency of the North-South International Transport Corridor, stating that “in the first four months of 2026, exports of goods from Russia to Iran increased by more than 56%, and the total volume of goods transported along this route reached approximately 2.2 million tons, an increase of 87% compared to the previous year.”Trade between Russia and Iran is primarily concentrated in the agricultural, food, and industrial technology sectors, along with strategic military and defense cooperation. Russia enjoys a significant trade surplus with Iran, with Russian exports in the balance. Russia’s main exports include grains, vegetable oils, timber, paper, machinery, and various equipment. Russia imports vegetables, fruits, pistachios, seafood, and other goods from Iran. - Kayhan
