Official Emphasizes Increasing Exports of Iran’s Oil Products, LPG to Afghanistan

Deputy Minister for International and Trade Affairs of the Ministry of Oil of Iran Seyed Muhammad Mousavi in a meeting with Afghanistan’s Minister of Industry and Trade said his country plans to increase exports of petroleum products and LPG to Afghanistan and announced that Tehran is also ready to cooperate in improving the technical capacity of Afghan refinery employees.

Minister of Industry and Trade of the Islamic Emirate, emphasizing the importance of maintaining the quality standards of exported petroleum products and liquefied petroleum gas, called for a reduction in prices and considering a special discount for Afghanistan.

He also requested the Iranian delegation to provide the necessary facilities in the transit sector of petroleum  products and liquefied petroleum  gas from Iran to Afghanistan.

The Afghan side also expressed its interest in enhancing the technical capacity of employees and improving the quality of domestic refineries, and considered this an important step towards relative self-sufficiency in the energy sector.

At the end of this meeting, the Iranian official invited the Minister of Industry and Trade of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan for an official visit to the Islamic Republic of Iran. It is worth noting that Afghanistan imports most of its petroleum products and liquefied petroleum gas from neighboring countries, especially Iran.

In recent years, the issue of quality, price, and transit facilities has been one of the main axes of bilateral talks between Kabul and Tehran in the field of energy. - Kayhan
