Iran Says Uzbek Truck Traffic Surges in 2025

Traffic by Uzbek transport fleets to Iran rose 117% in 2025 from a year earlier, while Iranian fleet traffic to Uzbekistan increased 18%, Iran’s transport and urban development minister said, citing a bilateral roadmap and the mutual removal of a US$400 fee.

Farzaneh Sadegh made the remarks in a meeting with Uzbekistan’s Transport Minister Makhkamov Ilkhom Rustamovich on the sidelines of the second meeting of transport ministers from Islamic countries in Istanbul, according to Iran’s Ministry of Transport and Urban Development.

Sadegh said transport and trade ties between the two countries have experienced one of their fastest growth periods in recent years, highlighting expanding cooperation in rail transport.

She said a joint roadmap for road transport cooperation and the reciprocal elimination of a US$400 charge had reduced trade costs and boosted cross-border truck movements. As a result, Uzbek fleet traffic to Iran jumped 117% in 2025 year-on-year, while Iranian fleet traffic to Uzbekistan rose 18%

The two sides reviewed existing road and rail transport issues and stressed the need for continued follow-up to expand cooperation across all areas, the ministry said.
