8 New Passenger Planes Join Iranian Air Fleet

The addition of eight passenger aircraft in the past recent weeks has boosted Iran’s air transport capacity, the caretaker head of the Civil Aviation Organization of Iran said. In comments at a press conference, Abouzar Shiroodi said recent measures taken to strengthen Iran’s air fleet have increased seating capacity by around 2,000 seats.

He noted that the rise in capacity has been achieved through the entry into service of eight aircraft as well as the return of part of the fleet that had previously been grounded and taken out of the flight cycle.

Shiroodi also stated that domestic capabilities in various fields, particularly in the maintenance and repair of airplanes, have reached an appropriate level. Iran has even received requests from a number of neighboring countries for the repair and maintenance of their aircraft, he added.

In early October, Iran’s Civil Aviation Organization said 11 new passenger planes had joined the national air fleet. - Kayhan
