Lufthansa to Resume Flights to Iran as Austrian Airlines Restarts Vienna-Tehran Route

Lufthansa will resume flights to Iran next month, an Iranian aviation official said on Sunday, as Austrian Airlines – a subsidiary of the Lufthansa Group – restarts its direct Vienna-Tehran-Vienna route after months of suspension.

Ramin Kashaf-Azar, acting head of Imam Khomeini Airport City Company, told IRNA that Austrian Airlines flights will resume in the early hours of Monday, marking the airline’s return to the Iranian capital.

“The arrival time at Imam Khomeini International Airport will be 2:30 a.m. Monday, and the departure time is 3:20 a.m.,” Kashaf-Azar said, adding that the flights are scheduled for Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.

Austrian Airlines earlier confirmed that its Vienna-Tehran flights would restart on October 2 with limited weekly services, as part of its broader plan to expand operations in the Middle East. The airline is expected to gradually increase the number of flights in the coming months.

The official added that Lufthansa is also expected to resume its Tehran flights next month. - IRNA
