Gas Power Plant Goes Offline in Yemen

Yemen’s Marib Gas Power Plant has gone offline following a sabotage attack on one of its main transmission lines in the Al-Arqain area, according to local energy authorities.

The incident occurred when armed assailants targeted the power infrastructure, causing a sudden disruption in electricity supply to several regions. Technical teams were dispatched to assess the damage and begin emergency repairs, but officials warned that restoration could take time due to the severity of the attack.

The Marib Gas Plant is one of Yemen’s most vital energy sources, supplying power to key provinces. Its shutdown has raised concerns over increased outages and pressure on already strained public services.

Government officials condemned the sabotage as a criminal act aimed at destabilizing essential infrastructure and deepening the humanitarian crisis. Security forces have launched an investigation to identify the perpetrators and prevent further attacks.

The incident highlights the vulnerability of Yemen’s energy network amid ongoing conflict and insecurity.
