Iran Sets New Record for Oil Production: NIOC

The CEO of the National Iranian Oil Company announced the country has set a new record for oil production.

Hamid Bovard said crude oil production in early Shahrivar – late August on the Gregorian calendar – reached its highest level in seven and a half years. He credited the achievement to the around-the-clock efforts of oil industry specialists and employees working toward the goals of the 14th administration and strengthening the national economy.

In a statement from the company, Bovard said challenges in production have made the country's oil industry more resilient than before. He said this accomplishment will be recorded as a proud memory for the oil industry and could be a bright start for the future objectives of the 14th administration’s activities.

Bovard, who is also a deputy oil minister, pointed to the administration’s macro policies. He said management in 1403 – the current year in the Iranian calendar – focused on the NIOC's structural priorities and a targeted plan for maximum extraction of oil and gas resources alongside export development. The goal is to increase productivity, boost the economy and guarantee the country's development outlook.

The deputy minister said the majority of the increased oil production capacity this year was achieved in the oil-rich south, West Karun and the Arvandan Oil and Gas Company. Additional capacity came from implementing new plans, bringing new wells online and commissioning desalination units in the Central Iranian Oil Fields Company. - Shana
