Refinery production in Oman recorded a modest increase of 1.3 per cent by the end of May 2025, while motor fuel output rose more significantly by 10.7 per cent, according to figures from the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI). Production of regular motor fuel (91) reached 7.39 million barrels, up from 6.68 million barrels in May 2024. Sales also climbed by 2.2 per cent to 5.8 million barrels, although exports fell by 5.7 per cent to 1.23 million barrels. Premium gasoline (95) production dipped slightly by 1.2 per cent to 5.33 million barrels. Despite this, sales rose by 1.3 per cent to 5.38 million barrels, while exports jumped by 20.6 per cent to 690,700 barrels. Diesel production reached 13.67 million barrels, up by 3.4 per cent from the previous year. Sales increased by 5.3 per cent to 5.99 million barrels, though exports declined by 12.5 per cent to 6.68 million barrels. Jet fuel output declined by 14 per cent to 4.15 million barrels. Both sales and exports saw decreases of 9.1 per cent and 15.6 per cent, respectively. Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) production edged up by 0.3 per cent to 3.19 million barrels. Sales rose by 20.8 per cent, but exports were down sharply by 53.6 per cent to 109,900 barrels.In the petrochemicals sector, gasoline output rose by 8.5 per cent to 74,300 metric tonnes, while paraxylene production increased by 3.1 per cent to 224,100 metric tonnes. Polypropylene output surged by 47.4 per cent to 148,000 metric tonnes. However, polypropylene sales dropped by 8.4 per cent to 13,700 metric tonnes. Exports of petrochemicals showed strong growth: gasoline exports rose by 5.9 per cent to 72,700 metric tonnes; paraxylene exports were up by 15.3 per cent to 253,200 metric tonnes; and polypropylene exports surged by 44.6 per cent, reaching 109,900 metric tonnes.
