Iran Keeps Monthly Quota Diesel Price Steady for Commercial Vehicles

The CEO of National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company (NIOPDC) emphasized that the subsidized diesel fuel quota price for urban and intercity transport fleets with verified performance will remain unchanged, stating it will stay at IRR 3,000 (0.36 cent) per liter.

Keramat Veys-Karami, speaking at a press conference on Monday, noted that to expedite and simplify fuel card issuance, duplicate and new-numbered fuel cards can now be requested online. This measure, implemented under the fiscal year 1403 budget law, has reduced waiting times from about a month to just one week.

Previously, obtaining a duplicate fuel card required in-person visits to Police +10 offices and multiple bureaucratic steps. With the new online system, applicants can submit their information and receive their smart fuel cards faster without needing to visit in person.

12,000 daily fuel card requests

Veys-Karami added that since last August, new and unregistered vehicles could apply for smart fuel cards online. The system has now been expanded to include used vehicles. Under the budget law, the police provide vehicle ownership data to the NIOPDC to ensure cards are issued and delivered within a week.

He highlighted that this move aligns with efforts to expand e-services, reduce in-person visits, and streamline fuel-related processes for citizens. Currently, Police +10 registers 12,000 fuel card requests daily, while the new online system processes 1,500 requests per day.

Regarding fuel prices, Veys-Karami reiterated that the quota price for urban and intercity fleets with verified performance will not change, remaining at IRR 3,000 per liter of diesel. - Shana
