150 NTBFs Established at Iran Oil Industry Technology Park

The head of the Oil Industry Technology and Innovation Park announced that 150 new technology-based firms (NTBFs) have been established at the Razi Campus in Tehran’s Shahriar district, achieving success in commercialization and securing oil-related contracts.

He stated that the focus in the new year will be on company development and leveraging artificial intelligence.

Mohammad-Esmaeil Kefayati highlighted the park’s accomplishments in the year 1403 (2024-2025), noting that around 150 NTBFs have been set up at the Razi Campus near the Tehran refinery in Shahriar. These companies have expanded their operations, succeeded in commercialization, and signed major contracts with oil and non-oil entities.

He added that the primary goal for the new year is to continue supporting these companies and strengthening collaboration within the innovation ecosystem. However, the top priority will be utilizing artificial intelligence and external technological capacities for the oil industry.

Referring to the park’s international initiatives, Kefayati said exporting technical and engineering services is on the agenda, with a related book currently in progress. Based on these studies, by pooling company resources and existing capacities, service and equipment exports could increase tenfold.

Kefayati noted that during the Nowruz (Persian New Year) holiday, many employees worked remotely, with some companies operating around the clock in three shifts. During slower work periods, he prefers studying global successes in technology and innovation to adapt them locally.

He shared two memorable achievements in the oil industry: the world’s first offshore relocation of Phase 12’s platform and the export of 950 tons of catalyst to Russia by one of the park’s companies. The export followed sample testing and inspections by Russian delegates.

Kefayati expressed gratitude to oil industry engineers who have neutralized sanctions and met the country’s needs, acknowledging their hard work, especially in operational areas. He also thanked the media for spreading positive news. - Shana
