Maritime Operations, Backbone of Iran Sustainable Oil Output & Exports: Official

The managing director of Iranian Oil Terminals Company (IOTC) emphasized the strategic importance of maritime operations in supporting the sustainable production and export of the country’s oil and gas. Abbas Asadrouz stated that maritime operations, relying on expertise, experience, and responsible management, are at the forefront of ensuring the stability of oil production and exports.

Asadrouz, during a visit to the maritime operations at the Kharg Oil Terminal, praised the efforts of the staff in this sector. He noted that maritime operations are central to the mission of Iran’s oil terminals, which are connected to critical assets including pipelines, storage tanks, docks, and vessels. “Our primary mission is to support the sustainable and continuous production of oil and gas in the country,” the official said.

Asadrouz added that working at sea comes with significant challenges, noting maritime operations personnel continue their duties even under unfavorable weather conditions, requiring dedication, experience, courage, and expertise. “With recent management changes, new energy and resources have been injected into operations management, enabling the organization to improve productivity through calculated risk-taking and responsible decision-making,” he said.

The CEO highlighted that maritime operations are at the forefront of the organization in terms of technology, experience, and expertise, and must be strengthened through support and strategic planning.

Gholamreza Jafar-Ganji, head of maritime operations at the Kharg Oil Terminal, also spoke during the visit. He stated that despite all risks and challenges, there has never been even a moment’s delay in oil exports. “Our priority is contracting with professional dockyards for vessel docking and major repairs, which requires the support and special attention of the organization’s management,” he said. Jafar-Ganji also emphasized the need to modernize the maritime fleet and streamline operations, adding that these measures will enhance the sustainability and efficiency of maritime operations.
