Algeria Undergoes Cabinet Reshuffle Following Presidential Election

Algerian Prime Minister Nadir Larbaoui announced a significant cabinet reshuffle after being reappointed by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune. Among the key changes, General Said Chengriha joined the government as Delegate for National Defense, though Tebboune retains the Defense portfolio.

Notable appointments include Lotfi Boudjemaa as Minister of Justice, Sifi Gharib as Minister of Industry, and Walid Sadi, head of Algeria’s Football Federation, as Minister of Sports. Additionally, the Ministry of Commerce was split into internal and external trade divisions.

Larbaoui, a seasoned diplomat, remains at the helm following his tenure that began in November 2023. This reshuffle maintains continuity in major portfolios like Foreign Affairs and Energy while introducing strategic new appointments to address national priorities.
