Iran, India Underline Mutual Cooperation

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian announced that Iran and India's membership in BRICS provides a suitable platform for further strengthening bilateral relations and ensuring mutual benefits.

Quoting the Presidential Information Center, Shana reported that Pezeshkian, in the first part of his visit to Russia on Tuesday evening, met with Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister of India, stating that his policy is based on creating unity within the country and expanding relations with neighbors and the region.”

He further noted that the membership of Iran and India in BRICS provides a suitable ground for enhancing bilateral cooperation, including implementing mutual agreements, especially in developing the Chabahar port.

"Strengthening regional cooperation will enhance welfare and security in the region and that is why I have proposed the idea of creating a communication network among regional countries and believe that BRICS is an appropriate framework to pursue the idea," the Iranian president said.

The Prime Minister of India also stated in this meeting that the relations between the two countries are built on the longstanding ties of two great civilizations and rich cultural commonalities. He emphasized that the development of the Chabahar port is the most important pillar of cooperation between the two countries and plays a significant role in strengthening relations with other regional countries.

Modi, emphasizing his country’s interest in expanding economic relations with Iran, expressed his agreement with the idea of creating a regional communication network. "I believe that deepening and strengthening relations, especially in economic terms, will benefit the entire region," the prime minister said. - Shana
