Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed S. Al-Sudani has held a meeting with the Secretary General of the Digital Cooperation Organization (DCO), Ms. Deemah AlYahya, on the sidelines of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.Founded in 2020, the DCO, "is dedicated to achieving social prosperity and the growth of the digital economy by unifying the efforts of our members to advance digital transformation and promote common interests."According to a statement from the Media Office of the Prime Minister, the Prime Minister expressed his gratitude to Ms. AlYahya for her dedicated efforts toward Iraq's membership in the DCO, which he personally prioritizes. He emphasized the benefits Iraq stands to gain from the organization's expertise, training programs, and the development of digital laws and regulations, particularly in the area of digital trade.Prime Minister Al-Sudani highlighted that a Higher Committee for Digital Transformation has been formed under his leadership, which will draft a comprehensive strategy for digital transformation and artificial intelligence, aligned with Iraq's ambitions and international digital requirements. He extended an official invitation to Ms. AlYahya to visit Iraq.Ms. AlYahya welcomed Iraq's decision to join the DCO and noted that various work plans and programs will soon be launched in Iraq after the signing of the organization's charter. She affirmed that Iraq will benefit from skill transfers and training programs.
