The Azerbaijan-Iraq Business Forum, held in Baku, focused on expanding cooperation in trade, tourism, and other sectors between the two countries.The event, organized by the Azerbaijan Export and İnvestment Promotion Agency (AZPROMO) and the Federation of Iraqi Chambers of Commerce, brought together over 100 business representatives from industries such as agriculture, food, logistics, and construction. A key outcome was the signing of an agreement to establish the Azerbaijan-Iraq Business Council.Azerbaijan's Minister of Economy, Mikayil Jabbarov, highlighted the historical ties and growing trade between the two nations, noting a 49% increase in trade from January to July 2024. He also emphasized the investment opportunities in Azerbaijan's transit and industrial sectors, as well as in the liberated territories. Iraq's Minister of Trade, Ater Dawood Al-Ghureyri, expressed Iraq's commitment to strengthening economic partnerships and invited businesses to explore Iraq's favorable investment climate. About 170 Iraqi companies currently operate in different sectors in Azerbaijan.The forum included discussions on private sector coordination, energy and tourism cooperation, and further strengthening economic ties. Business leaders also held bilateral meetings to explore collaborative opportunities.
