Egyptian Exports to Iraq Surge during 5 Months of 2024

Egypt's exports to Iraq surged to US$308.5 million between January and May, marking a notable rise from US$274.7 million in the same period of 2023, reflecting a US$34.4 million increase as per recent data unveiled by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS).

In the initial five months of 2024, Egypt's imports from Iraq tallied at US$4.1 million, showing a climb from US$2.3 million recorded in the corresponding period of 2023, depicting a US$1.7 million surge.

This trade escalation between Egypt and Iraq falls within the scope of the trade ties among Egypt and the nations of the Common Arab Market. Egyptian exports to this market amounted to US$1.639 billion from January to May, a leap from approximately US$1.448 billion in the same timeframe of 2023, marking a US$191.7 million increase.

These figures coincide with the ongoing visit of Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammad El-Sudani to Egypt, leading a distinguished Iraqi government delegation. President Abdel Fatah El-Sisi convened with El Sudani on Tuesday at New Alamain, where the high-profile delegation is engaged in an official visit to Egypt.
