Sonatrach and the Chinese company China Petroleum Engineering Corporation (CPECC) have signed a contract for the construction of new boosting units in the Alrar gas field, located in the Illizi Basin. he objective of this contract is to compensate for the drop in pressure and maintain production from the Alrar gas field at 10 million Sm3/d.The contract mainly consists of the EPC construction of three compression trains, the modification of the intake and inlet separation manifolds at the slug catchers, the installation of booster pumps, tie-ins with existing installations and utilities, the extension of the fire-fighting network and anti-intrusion and remote monitoring systems. It also includes the construction of an electrical substation and the upgrade of the existing ICSS integrated control and security system. Sonatrach says the deadline for completion of this project is 32 months for commissioning scheduled for the end of Q2 2027.
