Iraq to Relocate Old Brick Factories to Reduce Pollution

Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani chaired a meeting to discuss relocating old brick factories from Nahrawan due to their proximity to residential areas, and their negative environmental effects. According to the Prime Minister's Office, these factories, which often lack work permits and employ outdated machinery, contribute to pollution and exploit vulnerable workers, including children and women.

Al Sudani instructed the Ministry of Industry to conduct a geological survey to identify environmentally compliant sites away from new urban developments. The new locations must have access to raw materials and transportation networks. Modern, eco-friendly technologies will be mandated for future operations. A detailed plan will be presented at the next meeting of the High Committee for Provincial Coordination.
