Officials from Iran’s Sarakhs Special Economic Zone and a delegation of Belarusian businessmen held discussions on potential economic collaboration during a meeting at the northeastern border of Sarakhs.At the meeting, the parties explored the potential for establishing a large cargo loading and unloading center within the zone.Following the discussions, the Belarusian delegation toured the logistics, industrial, and manufacturing infrastructures of the Sarakhs Special Economic Zone.Speaking to the delegation, Mohammad Reza Rajabi Moghaddam, the manager of the Sarakhs Special Economic Zone, announced the formation of a working group dedicated to economic diplomacy to enhance foreign relations.“This region offers significant trade opportunities for Belarus due to its proximity to Central Asian republics, particularly Turkmenistan,” said Rajabi Moghaddam.He further emphasized that mutual cooperation could increase cargo transit capacity to over 10 million tons, and the zone is prepared to assist Belarusian companies with registering businesses, issuing licenses, and facilitating the import of machinery and raw materials.Highlighting the importance of Iran and Belarus’s membership in the Eurasian Economic Union, Rajabi Moghaddam mentioned that constructing a giant dock for shipments would attract more traders and investors to the zone.He concluded by noting that the construction and completion of a new logistics site in the zone are planned, which could increase cargo transit from the Sarakhs border to over 15 million tons. - Tasnim
