The CEO of Sonelgaz Group, Mourad Adjal, met with the Regional Director of the French Development Agency (AFD) for North Africa, Mrs. Cécile Couprie, on Thursday to discuss opportunities for cooperation between the two entities.According to Sonelgaz’s statement, the meeting took place “as part of Sonelgaz’s foreign partnership support and the promotion of its international development strategy.”During the meeting, Mr. Adjal expressed the group’s interest in strengthening cooperation with AFD for the development of studies and solutions in energy storage, green hydrogen development, and network digitization.He emphasized Algeria’s significant electricity production capacity, which he sees as “a major challenge for the group in terms of energy conversion methods, through the development of an efficient energy consumption model, especially since production capacities far exceed consumption averages.”Mr. Adjal also discussed the project for electricity export to Italy by sea, a project requiring foreign partners to ensure financing under a win-win partnership principle.On her part, Mrs. Couprie expressed AFD’s interest in cooperation with Sonelgaz in all proposed areas, emphasizing Europe’s high demand for energy, both gas and electricity.She also praised the credibility and seriousness of the group, making it “an important partner” for the French Agency, according to the same source.This meeting highlights the potential for collaboration between Sonelgaz and AFD in addressing energy challenges and advancing sustainable energy solutions, demonstrating a commitment to mutual benefit and international partnership.
