Spain’s Ambassador to Iran Ángel Losada Fernandez says his country is interested in developing tourism and economic relations with the Islamic Republic. Fernandez made the remarks at a meeting with Governor of Isfahan Seyyed Reza Mortazavi on Wednesday. The ambassador lamented that many Spanish companies had been active in Iran, but were affected by US sanctions and scaled back their activities in the country. He said that a business section has recently been established in the Spanish Embassy that could serve as a precursor for more economic cooperation between Iran and Spain.“Isfahan and Spain have a lot in common in the tourism sector and we are looking to strengthen these capacities,” Fernandez said. The governor of Isfahan also said that the embassy can play an effective part in helping develop relations between Iran and Spain. Pointing to Isfahan’s immense tourism potential, Mortazavi said, “There are more than 22,000 historical monuments in Isfahan that have set it apart in the handicrafts industry in Iran and the world.” - IRNA
