Iran and neighboring Iraq have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to expand bilateral cooperation on communications and information technology.

The document was signed by Iran’s Minister of Information and Communications Technology Issa Zarepour and Iraq’s Minister of Communications Hiyam Al-Yasiri in Baghdad on Monday. The MoU calls for Tehran-Baghdad cooperation on setting up communications infrastructure as well as exchanging experience in cyber security and artificial intelligence, among others.

The document was signed during the Iranian minister’s trip to Iraq, and following talks between Zarepour and Al-Yasiri. Zarepour also held a separate meeting with Iraq’s Atheer Daoud Al-Ghurairy. The Iranian official arrived in Baghdad on Sunday night for a one-day trip. - IRNA
