Algeria and Uganda enhanced their bilateral relations with the signing of energy-focused agreements and MoUs. Leveraging Algeria’s expertise in the sector, this collaboration aims to stimulate upstream activity in Uganda’s oil resources exploration. Discussions between the energy ministries of both countries focused on areas such as constructing an oil refinery in Uganda, financing the East African Crude Oil Pipeline, and increasing power generation capacity. These efforts support Uganda’s target of achieving 52,000 MW of installed generation capacity by 2050.
