The Libyan Illegal Migration Control Department on Monday deported more than 600 illegal Egyptian migrants to their country. Security Affairs official of the Libyan Illegal Migration Control Department Mohamed Bred'a said: "Today, we are deporting more than 600 migrants of Egyptian nationalities who entered Libya without any legal procedures. The migrants were deported overland in coordination with the Egyptian Embassy to Libya, he added. Because of the insecurity and chaos in the country since the fall of late leader Muammar Gaddafi's regime in 2011, many migrants, mostly Africans, chose to cross the Mediterranean Sea to European shores from Libya. According to the International Organization for Migration (IOM), Libya was hosting more than 700,000 illegal migrants from May to June of this year. Among them, 79% are men, 11% are women and 10% are children.
