Iraq has completed the construction of a crucial 132/33KV Extra High Voltage substation, marking a significant milestone in its interconnection project with Jordan, according to a senior government official. Imad Mishaal Al-Dulaimi, the District Commissioner of Al-Rutba District within Anbar governorate, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that the technical aspects of the interconnection project have been successfully concluded from the Iraqi side.Located in Iraq’s Anbar governorate, the project is expected to commence by the end of August. The supply of electricity from Jordan to Iraq is poised to address persistent power outages that have affected the Al-Rutba district over an extended period. In its initial phase, the project will see Jordan delivering 50 megawatts (MW) of electricity to Iraq, constituting Phase 1 of the larger endeavor, which will ultimately possess a substantial capacity of 150MW.
