Commercial Traffic at KSA-Iraq Border Crossing Sees Steep Rise

The volume of trade exchange between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) and Iraq hit SR913 million (~US$243 million) during the first six months of 2023, as commercial traffic at the new Arar border crossing saw a significant jump over the past two years.

The volume of trade exchange between the two nations stood at SR5.62 billion (~US$1.5 billion) during 2022, according to Iraqi News, which aligns well with the Kingdom’s goal to raise exports to Iraq to US$10 billion over the next five years.

That target was disclosed in May by the chairman of the Saudi-Iraqi Business Council Mohammed Al-Khorayef during the fifth session of the Saudi-Iraqi Coordination Council in Jeddah.
