Further Details on Libya-Italy MoU

A Libyan delegation headed by Prime Minister Abdul Hamid al-Dbeibeh held a counter meeting with the Italian government headed by President of the Council of Ministers Georgia Meloni. During the meeting the two parties signed a memorandum of understanding in the fields of oil and natural gas, joint investment in the submerged areas of the Mediterranean Basin and inland areas of the Ghadames Basin. The MoU also covers electrical connection, immigration and border protection, activation of contracts of two water and sewage treatment plants, and an agreement to connect Libya with #Italy with the maritime cable.

The parties discussed the follow-up work of the bilateral committees to lift the air ban on Libyan civil aviation in Italy and to set a deadline for doing so, and the steps needed to be taken to establish the Libyan Italian Supreme Committee, and to hold the Libyan-Italian Economic Forum on the margins of the first meeting of Paradise. The Prime Minister stressed the need to take practical steps to facilitate the grant of visas to Libyan citizens, emphasizing the importance of bilateral relations between Libya and Italy, supporting and developing them in all spheres in order to achieve the common interests of the peoples.
