A senior official at Iran’s Trade Promotion Organization (TPO) said that Tehran's exports to the Central Asian countries, the Caucasus and Russia increased by 18% in the previous Iranian calendar year (ending on March 20).Director-General of Central Asian, Caucasus and Russian Affairs Department of the TPOI stated that that Iran's exports to Central Asian states, Caucasus and Russia in the previous Iranian calendar year reached US$3.2 billion, registering an 18% growth compared to the previous year.He added that Iran's exports to these countries in the Iranian calendar year 1400 (ended March 20, 2022) showed a 40% growth compared to the previous year. Russia was the biggest importer of Iranian goods with US$745 million, which shows a 30% increase. The Republic of Azerbaijan with US$650 million, Armenia with US$465 million, Turkmenistan with US$460 million and Uzbekistan with US$290 million are in the next ranks.The surge in foreign trade comes in the backdrop of the President Ebrahim Raisi administration’s agenda to expand economic relations with countries in the region and those across the globe.Iran's president has reiterated that his country is achieving success as, according to the US officials’, their maximum pressure policy on Tehran has been defeated.
