Qatar Chamber Reviews Boosting Commercial Ties with Malawi

The Qatar Chamber hosted on Thursday a meeting with Minister of Trade and Industry of the Republic of Malawi H E Simplex Chithyola in the presence of QC board member Mohamed bin Ahmed Al Obaidli. Ambassador of Malawi to the State of Qatar H E Roy Akajuwe Kachale was also present at the meeting. The meeting touched on reviewing means to enhance economic and commercial cooperation between Qatar and Malawi, and the investment opportunities galore for Qataris in Malawi.

Speaking at the meeting, the Malawian Minister said that the delegation’s visit to the Chamber aims to inform the Qatari side on the available opportunities in Malawi in various sectors, such as agriculture, tourism, mining, power generation, infrastructure, food security and construction. Chithyola said that his country welcomes Qatari investments in these sectors, noting that Malawi owns huge potential and logistic capabilities required for investments, as well as a host of investment incentives and easy procedures for establishing businesses.

He invited Qatari businessmen to visit Malawi to learn about its investment climate and the opportunities it offers in a number of economic sectors. For his part, Mohamed Al Obaidli said the Chamber is keen to enhance cooperation relations with the Malawian side, stressing that it encourages Qatari investors to invest in Africa, which offers tremendous opportunities in all sectors. Al Obaidli assured that Qatari businessmen are looking for real business and investment opportunities which are generated in the presence of good infrastructure, logistic services and easiness of movement of goods, noting that the Chamber is keen to see Qatari investments in Malawi.
