RMA Middle East W.L.L, the German oil and gas pipeline equipment manufacturer, commemorated 10 years in Bahrain at an event attended by the German Ambassador to Bahrain, Clemens Hach, as well as several company officials and other invitees. Founded in 1969 and headquartered in Germany, RMA is one of the world’s largest oil and gas pipeline equipment manufacturer and has been exporting pipeline equipment all around the world for many years. The company’s offices in the Kingdom of Bahrain serve as their base for their Middle East operations. The company started its business in Bahrain in 2012, and this year celebrates a decade of being based in the Kingdom. Clemens Hach, German Ambassador to Bahrain, said; “We are delighted to celebrate the 10th anniversary of RMA entering Bahrain. Since coming to the Kingdom, the company has gone from strength to strength and the project has been an unprecedented success.” “Bahrain is a greatly valued partner of Germany and out countries already have multiple cooperation agreements concerning trade, business, and many other sectors. The success of RMA is testament to the trade cooperation between our nations.”Securing the presence of a reputable German company in Bahrain is one of the Bahrain Economic Development Board’s many recent achievements. The board continues to work to attract major international companies and foreign investment to Bahrain. Ahmed Sultan, executive director – Business Development for Manufacturing and Logistics at Bahrain EDB said: “”RMA represents a success story of which the Economic Development Board is particularly proud because it embodies a model for direct investment that originated in the Kingdom of Bahrain and developed into a hub for exporting its goods to the Middle East market and the rest of the world. The company recruits a variety of young Bahraini talents, some of whom hold executive positions, are heavily involved in overseeing the operation of the factory and the company’s operations across the Kingdom.” “This substantially complies with the purpose of the EDB, which is to draw direct investments to sectors with a competitive edge to provide job opportunities on the local market. We wish the company continued success in its endeavors and we aim to attract higher-caliber direct investments, like RMA, to the Kingdom.” Sultan added. The RMA CEO, Simone Schreiber, stated; “We are grateful to the Government of Bahrain for their support throughout the decade we have been in Bahrain. We would also like to praise the cooperation and supportiveness of several of Bahrain’s authorities such as Economic Development Board, Tamkeen and the Bahrain Chamber. These organizations, and the assistance they have provided, has helped us to adapt and grow our business in Bahrain.” “We chose Bahrain after considering several other countries in the region. We found that the Kingdom of Bahrain was the ideal location for the establishment of our first branch in the Middle East. The Kingdom has many advantages such as its geographical location and proximity to the Saudi market (the largest in the region). Furthermore, the facilities provided by Bahrain to investors, the tax agreements with Saudi for Bahraini products and various other advantages made moving to Bahrain a no brainer.” “In order to get closer to our customers and remain competitive in the future, we are now also manufacturing our products outside Germany, including at our Bahrain branch. The company plans continued expansion and will be establishing a new production facility in Russia to serve the Russian and Asian markets.” Concluded Schreiber.Khalid Qarooni, Production Planning Manager at RMA’s Bahrain Branch, commented; “We are delighted to celebrate 10 years of RMA’s presence in Bahrain. Our success here confirms the willingness of Bahrain to take care of investors and provide everything they can to help them expand and continue to develop their business”. Qarooni noted that RMA supplies the local market as well as neighboring markets – most notably the Saudi market – with its own pipeline products. The majority of the company’s product is exported to Saudi Arabia due to very high demand there. Qarooni affirmed that the Kingdom of Bahrain has provided many facilities to the company and thanked Tamkeen, which has provided invaluable support in training the company’s employees. He noted that Tamkeen’s support contributed to RMA’s decision to make Bahrain the center for its Middle East operations.
