Iranian Industry, Mine and Trade Minister Reza Fatemi-Amin will visit the Russian capital on Monday to participate in Moscow’s motor show, the press service of the trade mission affiliated to Russia’s Embassy in Tehran said in a statement. "On August 22, a delegation headed by Minister of Industry, Mining and Trade of the Islamic Republic of Iran Fatemi-Amin will visit Moscow to participate in the ceremony of the opening of the Iranian pavilion at the ‘MIMS Automechanika Moscow 2022’ international exhibition," the statement said, reported TASS."More than 50 Iranian companies operating in the area of car manufacturing and the production of car components will be represented at the event," the press service added.According to an official with the state-run Iran Khodro Company (IKCO) Amir-Abbas Farnoudi, since the Russian auto industry has been sanctioned by the west, this exhibition is a great opportunity for Iranian auto parts manufacturers to introduce their capacities and capabilities to the Russian market, IRIB reported.He noted that the main goal of attending the mentioned exhibition is to form long-term cooperation with Russian car and auto parts manufacturers and added: “companies were selected to participate in this exhibition that have the necessary technology for producing auto parts or to offer up-to-date technical engineering services so that they can operate directly in the Russian market.”According to Farnoudi, IKCO has also showcased one of the latest automobiles manufactured by the company called Tara in this exhibition in order to test the taste of Russian consumers.“Iran Khodro's goal to re-enter the Russian market is completely strategic and planned,” he said.“Russia is the fifth largest car consumption market in the world and is one of the most attractive markets, with complexity and intense competition in the region, for this reason, for the last two years, studies, planning, and negotiations have been carried out for Iran Khodro to re-enter this market. And we are in the process of reaching good agreements, which will be announced as soon as the results are obtained,” the official added.The Western sanctions on Russia over the conflict in Ukraine have provided a new opportunity for Iran’s automobile and auto parts industry to gain a firm foothold in its northern neighbor’s markets, an Iranian official said on Thursday.The director general of Iran’s Industry, Mine and Trade Ministry’s Automotive Industry Department, Abdollah Tavakoli Lahijani, noted that the Islamic Republic has devised a plan to boost its products and platforms by leaning on domestic knowledge-based companies and overtake the rivals in international markets.He said the exhibition slated to be held in the Russian capital from August 22-25 with the participation of 600 companies from 18 countries will help Iranian car manufacturers conquer new markets and find a new place in the supply chain. - Tehran Times, Iran Daily
