Iran exported 2.16 million tons of agricultural and food products worth US$1 billion during the first quarter of the current fiscal year (March 21-June 21), the latest data released by the Agricultural Jihad Ministry show. The figures indicate a decline of 10.53% in tonnage and 16.25% in value year-on-year. Watermelons topped the list of exports in terms of value with US$132.89 million. Tomatoes were the second major agricultural export product in terms of value with US$110.1 million, followed by pistachios with US$66.37 million, apples with US$34.59 million, and potatoes with US$32.21 million. In terms of tonnage, watermelons also topped the list with 597,870 tons, tomatoes with 237,820 tons, followed by Persian melons with 159,460 tons, apples with 129,540 tons, and potatoes with 78,810 tons. - Financial Tribune
