Iran, Cuba Stress Expanding Energy Ties


The Managing Director of the Pars Special Energy Economic Zone (PSEEZ) and the Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba to Iran emphasized expansion of cooperation between the two countries in the energy sector.

According to the Pars Special Zone Organization, Sekhavat Asadi, CEO of PSEEZ, in a meeting with Alberto Gonzalez Casals, Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba to Iran, said: "South Pars region has 13 gas refineries with a production and sweetening capacity of roughly 700 Mcm of gas alongside 22 petrochemical complexes."

Asadi added: "The Islamic Republic of Iran has invested US$150 billion in the South Pars region since 1997, and due to the appropriate infrastructure in the region, there are countless potentials ahead for private sector investors."

The Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba to Iran also described the political relations between the two countries as excellent, and said: "We expect economic relations to develop in line with the political relations between the two countries and Iran's progress, especially in the oil industry, is a favorable opportunity for cooperation." - Shana
