Iranian Firm Studying Connection of Power Grids of Three Countries


A feasibility study for connecting electricity networks of Azerbaijan, Iran, and Russia will be prepared by the international engineering and consulting company Monenco Iran, Azerbaijani Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov said in an interview with Russia’s Neftegazovaya Vertikal magazine. “Currently, work is underway to prepare a feasibility study for the connection of energy systems,” the minister added, azerbaycan24.com reported. The research results will allow to determine the route of the energy bridge, as well as to show its economic efficiency, he said.

Iran’s electricity exports to its neighbors have been witnessing an upward trend in recent years. The country has exchanged electricity with most of its neighbors, namely Armenia, Azerbaijan, Turkey, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Turkmenistan, Iraq, as well as the Nakhichevan Autonomous Republic, among which Turkey, Iraq, Pakistan and Afghanistan have been importers of Iran’s electricity. - Iran Daily
