Increase in Iran’s Exports to Russia

Head of Iran-Russia Joint Chamber of Commerce Hadi Tizhoush Taban says due to the rise in the forex price and resolving pandemic problems, Iran’s exports to Russia have soared by 38% in the first four months of the current year comparing to the same period last year.

Rizhoush Taban went on to say that some reason of this rise is the devaluation of rial and some has been due to resolving the pandemic problems. He added that according to the Iran Customs Administration statistics, Iran’s exports to Russia in the first four months have been around US$333 million which shows 38% rise comparing to the same period last year. He added that in the same period, Iran’s imports from Russia have been around US$472 million which shows 8% decline. Tizhoush went on to say that Iran’s exports to Russia have been mostly dried fruits, fruits, vegetables, plastic materials, iron and steel and fiber and its imports from Russia have been butter oil, wood, wooden products, steam pot and lentil.

On imports of vaccines from Russia by the private sector, he said the private sector has not entered the talks for imports of Russian-made vaccines and the reports of talks are about the quasi-private sector. He admitted that some agreements have been signed between the governments of the two states for import of vaccines but the Russians did not fulfill their commitment because of their domestic demands. - Iran News
