Fire Breaks-Out at Libyan Ammonia Plant


Sirte Oil and Gas Production and Processing Company experienced a fire in the steam production unit of its second ammonia plant. Firefighters rapidly responded and were able to extinguish the fire quickly as to avoid any major damage to the unit.

The fire broke out at the thermal extraction boiler at the second ammonia plant. Mr. Khaled Boustou, Director of the Health, Safety and Environment Department at the company, made an inspection tour of the fire site.

Corrective measures were subsequently taken by the company to repair the equipment to working order and to avoid the occurrence of similar incidents in the future.
