Official Announces Fund Allocated to Agricultural Mechanization

For the current Iranian year (started March 20), with the support of Minister of Agricultural Jihad Kazem Khavazi, 30,000 billion rials (~US$125 million) were allocated to agricultural mechanization. The head of the Agricultural Mechanization Development Center of the Ministry of Agricultural Jihad also said on Monday that by March 2022, about 30,000 tractors, 800 grain harvesters and 50,000 agricultural tools and equipment will be supplied in the agricultural sector, IRNA reported.

The level of mechanized wheat cultivation was close to 56% in 2013, said Kambiz Abbasi, expressing hope that in the fall of the current year, about 92% of wheat cultivation would be mechanized, relying on domestic industries. According to the supply of rice harvesting machines by his ministry, estimates show that mechanized rice harvest in the country will reach about 90%, he said.

Abbasi stated that the amount of mechanization facilities absorbed in the last Iranian year was about US$144 million, and in the year to March 19, 2020, it was nearly US$80 million. According to IRNA, in the 11th government, a special budget was allocated to the agricultural mechanization sector, so that for the project of equipping and modernizing the agricultural sector, seven credit lines were allocated to this sector in the past eight years. - Iran Daily
