Construction of Largest Wind Tunnel on Iran-Afghanistan Border Started


Iran's Deputy Minister of Energy (Water and Electricity) announced the start of a project to build one of the largest wind tunnels in the world on the joint border of Iran and Afghanistan. Referring to the start of the project on the border between Iran and Afghanistan, Mohammad Satkin said that 25 MW of this project would be operational by the end of the current Iranian and another 25 MW would be connected to it at the beginning of the next year in the Iranian calendar (starting on March 21). Satkin added: "In addition to this project, another 50 MW project is being developed using 4.2 MW turbines, part of which will be completed by the end of this year and the other part will be performed at the beginning of the next year." The Deputy Minister of Energy of Iran, stating that one of the windy regions of the world has been identified on the border between Iran and Afghanistan with a capacity of 30,000 MW, added: "About 25,000 megawatts of the capacity of this large windy region is located in Afghanistan and about 5000 MW of it is located in Iran." - Iran Press
